Conversation between Brendan Burns
(Artist) and David Alston (Arts Council of Wales)
They were in conversation
about the work produced by Brendan during his 12 month residency
at Oriel Y Parc. The work forms the nucleus of the current
exhibition (ceases 17 March 2010) which also includes works
selected by Brendan from the National Museums Collection. These
works cover English and European painting which have been
instrumental in influencing Brendan and include paintings by
Spencer, Sutherland, Piper, Prendergast, Hitchins and Boudin.
The audience enjoyed the
exchange of dialogue which produced a unique insight into the
working mind of an artist.
The event was sponsored by Friends of the Graham Sutherland
Collection. The discussion took place in front of several of
Brendan's paintings in the main gallery at Oriel Y Parc.
